Because Mentoring Works is a youth development and mentoring program that was established in 1996. It provides life strategy and mentoring services to adolescent, at-risk, students who stem from a troubled background. Services include conflict resolution, decision making, communication, public speaking, cultural enrichment, anger management, grooming, etiquette, mentoring, academic support and career enrichment. The primary purpose of the program is to prepare students to be effective and responsible adults who are better able to handle the challenges in their community, professional and personal life.

Through a series of interactive workshops, projects, speakers, trips and other support services, students are exposed to community, professional and pre-college resources that assist them in their development. Often, students develop into role models and mentors for younger students who are in need of support.

Because Mentoring Works also provides services to agencies that need to start a life strategy and mentoring programs. Assessment of needs, program development, implementation and evaluations are provided. Program follow up is also provided to ensure effective services are maintained. Through a collaborative effect, customized adjustments are completed to meet the goals of the agency.
